Newborn photo shoots are always fun, but when a baby has unlimited patience for all things adorable… I could shoot all day, and we almost did!!
Mommy and Daddy have a new Valentine this year…

Tutu changes, bow adjustments, swaddling, and snuggling… all things Chris might not have imagined doing some day, but like every great daddy to a baby girl he did these things with a smile on his face. He only hesitated once at the thought of Alexis having an accident on one of his favorite jerseys…

One of the joys of being a photographer is getting to document some of the most important times in people’s lives. The only thing that can make that even more enjoyable is when you get to do it for close family and friends.

My cousin and her husband just had their first child, an incredibly gorgeous baby girl. Despite some hesitation I convinced my cousin to let me shoot some maternity photos. She was gorgeous and I am happy that she will have these photographic memories of this special time.

I can’t wait until later this week when I get to shoot the newest member of our family…Welcome to the world Alexis Kathleen!

Catching Up!

I know my blog has been silent for a few months. Many developments have happened in my personal life and with S. Scott Photography since the end of the summer. Most exciting is the fact that our family is expecting a new addition this Spring. With a new pregnancy comes all of the challenges of the first trimester… I am cautiously announcing that I am done with all of that ‘fun’ and am in full-on expectant mommy excitement mode! I can’t wait for another light of my life to fill up memory cards by the dozen.

During this break I have also opened up a small studio space for indoor photos. This will make those Nebraska winters a lot more fun for my camera and I! The studio space is centrally located near 114th and Dodge and I love Saturday and Sunday mornings spent shooting away in the joy of climate control.

Just because I’ve taken a break from blogging does NOT mean I have taken a break from shooting. Thank you to everyone who filled my summer and fall months with their memories!

It all started on a gorgeous spring day in Nebraska…May 1st and THIRTY NINE degrees outside. Let’s just say my fingers were almost too frozen to click the shutter and no one was feeling very photogenic. We decided to reschedule for a stormy summer day, and then another, but mother nature eventually caved and the fourth time was the charm! We FINALLY got our perfect weather… not too hot, not too cold the kind of day that doesn’t come around very often and was VERY much appreciated!

Not only was the weather perfect, the children were perfect. Little Blake’s blue eyes were the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen, how could you ever say NO to this face?

And how could he not be the sweetest baby ever with a mommy like Jenn…

I predict Jason will be famous some day. His favorite song is ‘Tonight, Tonight’ and although he told me he is only going into the second grade, he is definitely going on 25 and is certain to break a lot of hearts in the coming years…

Jenn is clearly a lucky woman with a house full of good looking guys like these…

Ava June

Sugar and spice and everything nice! That is exactly how I would describe my photo shoot with Miss Ava. She is full of personality like every little girl should be and cracked me up the entire time…

Her favorite part of the shoot was picking flowers for everyone under the sun, she was even sweet enough to give me two…

Welcome Baby Liam

There is no bigger honor than to be welcomed into someone’s home during the first week of their child’s life. Brand new babies are the most wonderful treasures imaginable. I was so happy to be able to capture Liam at this most precious time. Every parent knows how fast it goes by…

Chris a very excited and involved during the shoot he was on top of Liam’s every move and I can tell he is going to be the fun and supportive daddy that every child hopes for…

Andy, Jordan and Savannah

It was a hot summer day. I had scouted Zorinsky Lake as a location for a photo shoot and found an ‘off the beaten’ path through weeds and trees to a field I fell in love with. When I brought it up, Andy and his kids were totally down for a trek but…  a few minutes into our shoot Jordan started to itch…  Uh Oh! Suddenly the terror of  possibly  giving someone’s child poison ivy crept into my mind. Of course once it was in our heads we all spent the entire shoot trying not to itch. Luckily it WAS all in our heads because I wouldn’t have ever lived that one down! I think the great photos were worth a little paranoia…

Andy is a fantastic dad, his kids adore him especially Savannah and as a daddy’s girl myself I loved it. Andy shares the future dating sentiment of all father’s of girls ‘HE HAS TO COME THROUGH ME FIRST!’

Jordan had me the most smitten though! His adorable personality made my day. It didn’t hurt that he thought I might have enough talent to be featured in National Geographic Kids
